Job Scope

The Director, Intermodal New Distribution Methods is pivotal in driving Skyteam initiatives (Intermodal) related to new distribution concepts / new way of cooperation in a more generic meaning.

This role reports to Head of Revenue Development and is part of Team Revenue Development Team.

About You

As the Director, Intermodal New Distribution Methods, you will play a crucial part in driving SkyTeam’s innovative distribution initiatives. Reporting to the Head of Revenue Development and working closely with the Revenue Development Team, your mission will be to identify and implement new revenue-generating concepts, enhance collaboration across our alliance network, and explore cutting-edge distribution models.

You’ll lead key projects from concept to deployment, focusing on cross-selling opportunities and synergies within the SkyTeam member airlines. With a deep understanding of both traditional and modern airline distribution methods, you will be the go-to expert for guiding stakeholders, managing partnerships, and ensuring smooth project execution across multiple divisions, including Digital and IT.

You’ll be instrumental in shaping the future of SkyTeam’s distribution strategy, fostering collaboration, and ensuring that all initiatives align with business objectives and technical feasibility. Your expertise in revenue management, offer/order management, and intermodality will be key in pushing the boundaries of how SkyTeam operates, paving the way for future growth and enhanced customer experiences.

Key Result Areas / Key Responsibilities 
  • Identify or engineer ideas leading to revenue generation for SkyTeam members, especially in the context of cross-selling, leveraging the alliance network and exploiting synergies between members (core products, flight- and ground-related ancillary services). 
  • Run SkyTeam’s initiatives, from the realization of relevant marketing material, through the delivery of one or more proofs of concept (PoC), up to the supervision of the deployment across our member network.
  • Stakeholder management (awareness, advocacy, escalation, support) 
    • o SkyTeam airline members 
    •  IT providers contracted by SkyTeam 
  • Ensure awareness and provide guidance related to the implementation of the initiatives mentioned above, especially taking into account the compatibility with traditional distribution mechanisms from both business and technical perspectives. 
  • Lead creative solutioning for new distribution concepts, identify all dependencies and address them holistically (first sale, voluntary and involuntary servicing, customer notification and preferences, airport operations and in general operational readiness). 
  • Foster collaboration with other SkyTeam divisions such as Digital/IT to ensure a sound solution architecture and cost-efficient deliveries
Responsibilities and tasks of the position are not limited to the above mentioned, and deviations can occur at any point in time as the position evolves and in concert with the manager.

Must have:
Authorization/availability to reside and work legally in The Netherlands on a full-time basis.(note: this position does not offer relocation assistance).
Your profile
Required Skills, Knowledge and Experience
  • Bachelor/Master in Business, Sciences, Engineering etc. with proven professional experiences in the above domains 
  • 15 years minimum of professional experience in an airline or airline adjacent organization
  • Good to excellent knowledge of: 
    • Revenue management (leg/segment, O&D, notions of total offer optimization)
    • Traditional distribution;
      • from business principles/concepts and contractual aspects (MITA, codeshare, Interline, franchise agreements)
      • to its daily operation through the control of availability, shopping, reservation (type-A, type-B, APIs), pricing and ticketing.
  • Excellent understanding of modern distribution concepts currently discussed and trialed at industry level, including but not limited to:
    • Retailer/supplier model (SRSIA)
    • OOSD model, especially related to reporting and settlement (settlement value, total offer optimization, personalization, retailing and merchandizing techniques)
    • Offer/Order Management
    • NDC flows, including interline
  • Expertise on key GDS and PSS architectural concepts, system-to-system connectivity for distribution purposes and their evolution in the future.
  • General understanding of airline operations, especially from an IT standpoint.
  • Knowledge or expertise on train business and operations;
    • Experience with concrete implementations of Intermodality will be considered an asset, so is IT expertise on the subject
  • Excellent presentation & Microsoft Office Skills
  • Excellent command of English language (Verbal & Written) is mandatory. However, native languages from SkyTeam members will be considered an asset
